Meet two of our best and brightest Chicago Lock operators: Richard Munoz Jr., and Richard Detert. Discover more about their careers, interesting facts about the Chicago Lock, and what USACE has done for them and their careers.

"I love it here. The views are amazing, the people are hilarious... it's always amazing to be out here." says Justin Detert, lock operator at the Chicago Lock.

Detert and Richard Munoz Jr. work at one of the busiest locks in the nation, with OVER 67,000 vessels coming through in 2019. In this video, the two discuss their careers with USACE, why they enjoy what they do, and share interesting facts about the Chicago Lock.

"I've been serving in the Illinois National Guard for 6 years. The Army Corps of Engineers have been working with me, being flexible with me being gone with my training," says Munoz. "I love the people, I love my coworkers, and I've been learning a lot."
