Cook County Environmental Infrastructure

AUTHORITY:

WRDA 1992 (PL 102-580), Section 219(f)(54), as amended in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2001, (PL 106-554), see HR 4577, Chapter 14, Division B, Section 108; Section 142 of the FY 2004 Energy and Water Resources Appropriation (PL 108-137)

DESCRIPTION:

This project provides technical planning, design and construction assistance to non-federal interests who have environmental infrastructure needs in Cook County, Illinois. These needs may be related, but not limited, to development and protection of water supply and waste water systems, combined sewer overflows, and remediation of adverse water quality impacts and storm water impacts to waste water systems.  Work completed under this authorization includes construction for LaGrange, Calumet Park schools, Brookfield Zoo, feasibility and construction for Flossmoor, and construction for LaGrange Park, Olympia Fields, and Richton Park. Construction was recently awarded for sewer improvements in Oak Lawn. Pending projects identified as applicable to this authorization include Country Club Hills, Countryside, Glenview, Riverdale, Berwyn, Westchester, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, and Midlothian.

STATUS:

Available funds will be used to close out the Country Club Hills water main replacement Project and award a contract option for Calumet City Pump Station Rehabilitation Contract. In addition we will initiate construction for Glen Oak, Glenview IL Sewer Improvement project, Crestwood water main replacement, Hazel Crest water main replacement, and Calumet City Pump Station Rehabilitation. We will also initiate work on new projects for the Villages of Lemont, Park Forest, Matteson and Richton Park.
