Veteran's Park Lagoon

DESCRIPTION:

The Study aims to determine the most cost effective and environmentally beneficial plan to restore Veteran’s Park Lagoon, reestablish hydrogeomorphology and growing mediums to support natural communities, provide spawning and rearing habitat for those fish species that require vegetation, and potentially reestablish connectivity with Lake Michigan.

BENEFITS:

The proposed project could offset degradation and habitat loss by providing a sustainable environmental corridor and connect isolated environmental features; and restore the river to a more natural condition, improving water quality and storage availability.

STATUS:

The Feasibility Scoping Milestone (FSM) was met on 22FEB2022. FCSA execution is scheduled for May of 2022, pending availability of NFS funding. A Phase II investigation will be completed this summer as part of the Feasibility Study, sampling and analysis are scheduled for Fall 2022 completion.
