Is My Home or Property Located in the Floodplain?

Whether you currently own a home or property, or are considering buying one, it is important to know whether it is within a designated flood prone area. Typically, properties that are require the purchase of flood insurance as a condition of obtaining a mortgage. This also reduces your financial exposure in the event of a flood.

The Chicago District can determine whether your home or property is within a designated flood prone area. We maintain an inventory of the latest flood plain maps produced by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. We will provide you a letter with our determination within 7 business days. There is no charge for this service.

Please fill out the EXPEDITED FLOODPLAIN ASSISTANCE FORM being careful to provide us with the exact address of the property in question in the "Comments" section of the form.
