Whiting Shoreline

Introduction:
 
This project will investigate shore erosion problems along the Lake Michigan shore in the vicinity of Whiting Indiana. Area under investigation for the Sec 103 study is adjacent to the site selected for the Sec 107 project, which is a 1900-foot segment of the Lake Michigan shoreline in Whiting, Indiana. This project is for the development of the shoreline to provide recreational and navigation improvements. With the termination of the Sec 107 project, the Corps will perform an initial evaluation and determine the need for a Sec 103 study.

Current Status:

The project is currently in the feasibility phase, which means that the site is being evaluated and alternatives are being considered. This phase should be complete by September 2006 and the final result will be a detailed project report. This document will outline the Corps’ suggested alternatives.
