EAST CHICAGO WATERWAY
MANAGEMENT DISTRICT AND ARMY CORPS TO HOLD TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION SESSION ON
INDIANA HARBOR PROJECT
The East
Chicago Waterway Management District and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago
District, will be hosting an information session from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, April 30, 2001 at the Riley Social Center, 1005 E. Chicago Avenue, East
Chicago, Indiana. The purpose of the
session is to exchange ideas on new and emerging sediment removal and disposal
technology and the possible use of such technology in relation to the Indiana
Harbor and Canal maintenance dredging and disposal activities.
The Army Corps and the East Chicago
Waterway Management District, the non-federal sponsor for the Indiana Harbor
Confined Disposal Facility project, are committed to holding an information
session every April to discuss new and emerging technology in the field of
removal, transportation, disposal and treatment of contaminated sediments. The purpose of these meetings is to give
community members the opportunity to provide ideas that can be further
researched and developed, and to provide feedback to the public on possible
applicability of these technologies.

These technology-sharing sessions will be
