Public Notice - Request for permission to modify a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project under Section 408
PUBLIC NOTICE/APPLICATION NUMBER: 16-06
COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS: 22 November 2016
COMMENT PERIOD EXPIRES: 22 December 2016
Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago
111 East Erie Street, Chicago, IL 60611
The proposed action is an alteration to the Federal Chicagoland Underflow Project (CUP) McCook Reservoir Project that includes the expansion of the authorized project limits of the Stage 2 reservoir to add approximately 3 billion gallons of storage to the
authorized configuration. The proposed 3 billion gallon expansion of the reservoir will significantly increase the storage capacity for the most severe storm events and allow for the reservoir to be maintained at a lower elevation during moderate events. The detailed engineering plans and specifications for this work will not differ significantly in specifications for materials or methods of construction, but will expand the area in which work will occur. The proposed mining line encompassing the expanded reservoir has been provided for review and comment, along with pertinent additional quantities for and boundaries of expanded reservoir structures. (See drawing in the attachment). A detailed description of this proposal is provided on page 2 of the attachment.

Location: McCook, Illinois; Township and Range: 38N12E
