PUBLIC NOTICE/APPLICATION NUMBER: 20-07 Cat Island Habitat Management

LOCATION:

Brown County, Wisconsin; West Cell of Cat Island Dredged Material Management Facility Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to modify a Federal project has been received for the activity described herein and as shown on the attached drawings.

PROPOSED ACTION:

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) is proposing habitat management within the West Cell of the Cat Island Dredged Material Management Facility to improve nesting habitat and nesting habitat availability for the federally endangered piping plover. Proposed actions include filling in areas of the West Cell island with captured clean lake bed sand, burying fine silts and covering with captured lake bed sand, and placing 2-3 inch cobbles over the modified areas to protect from wind erosion.

COMMENTS:

You are invited to provide your comments by 30 December 2020 on the proposed work, which will become part of the record and will be considered in the decision on the request. Permission will be issued or denied under Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. 408).
