    Tree removal continues construction phase of North Branch Chicago River Habitat Restoration Project

    Tree removal at Legion Park began on Jan 2, 2020, and continues the construction phase of the North Branch Chicago River Habitat Restoration Project. The contract option was awarded to Industria, Inc. of Des Plaines, Illinois, in September 2019 which also includes site restoration and native plantings.

    Chicago District wins top USACE award for FY19 Small Business program

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District was recognized as the top district in USACE for awarding about 85% of its FY19 contracts to small businesses and about 20% of its contracts to disabled, veteran-owned small businesses at the 2019 Society of American Military Engineers’ Federal Small Business Conference in Dallas, Texas, last month. The awards, based Corps wide, were awarded by Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, USACE commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Bradley Houston, HQUSACE.

    Oct. 1, 2019, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rep. Pete Visclosky (IN-1), and Whiting Mayor Joseph Stahura held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of a water main and sewer improvement project in Whiting, Indiana.

    Corps awards contract for Glenview storm-sewer improvement project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Chicago District awarded a $1.19 million contract Sept. 7, 2019, to Kovilic Construction Company, Inc., of Franklin Park, Illinois, for storm-sewer improvements for the Village of Glenview, Illinois.

    Public comment period extended for draft Chicago Area Waterway System Dredged Material Management Plan, integrated Environmental Impact Statement

    (May 30, 2019) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District is extending the public comment period for the draft Chicago Area Waterway System (CAWS) Dredged Material Management Plan (DMMP), and integrated Environmental Impact Statement from 45 to 60 days. The comment period began on May 3, 2019, and the new closing date is July 2, 2019 (changed from the original 45-day closing date of June 17, 2019).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District released for public comment today the DuPage River, Illinois Feasibility Report and Integrated Environmental Assessment. The report provides a Recommended Plan to reduce flood risk in DuPage and Will counties in Illinois.
