USACE recruiting for students and recent graduates

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chicago District will be at the listed career fairs in Spring 2021 actively recruiting for Recent Grad (GS 5-12) and Student (GS 3-4) positions in our Chicago, IL office and field locations.

USACE will be recruiting using direct hiring authority for multiple disciplines and grade levels from GS-3 to GS-12. We encourage students and graduates to attend the virtual Career Fairs listed below and inquire about career opportunities with the Chicago District.

Student: a person who, (1) is currently enrolled in, and in good academic standing at a full-time program or an institution of higher education; and (2) is making satisfactory progress towards receipt of a baccalaureate or graduate degree; and (3) has completed at least one year of the program.

  • Post-secondary students: Appointed to term appointment of more than 1 year and may not exceed 4 years (5 CFR 316.301). May be noncompetitively converted to career/career-conditional appointment within 120 days of successful completion of academic program requirements.

Recent Graduate: Those who have completed, within the previous two years, a degree from a qualifying educational institution. Current students who will graduate within 9 months of the closing date of this announcement are also eligible except in the case of a person completing a period of obligated uniformed service of more than four years, awarded date must be no more than 4 years before the date of appointment.
