The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan (IN-1), and Gary Mayor Jerome Prince will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of two sewer improvement projects in Gary, Indiana:

WHEN:           Tuesday, July 6, 2021

WHERE:         13th & Grant St. Gary, IN (1232 Grant Street Gary IN 46404)

TIME:             10 a.m.

The Gary Sanitary District 13th Avenue Sewer Improvement Project will address a need to update the sanitary sewer lines within the project area by replacing approximately 1,900 linear feet of existing 42-inch and 48-inch poured-in-place concrete sanitary sewer with a new reinforced concrete pipe sewer of the same size, in the same location, and slope the existing sewer.

This project is part of the Calumet Region Environmental Infrastructure 219 project and has been allocated $2,268,309 of federal funding.

The Calumet Region Gary Sanitary District Water Treatment Plant Grit Dewatering Improvement Project will create a system that allows the Gary Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Plant to meet the grit loading it receives from the collection system, and reduce the burden on the primary systems.

This project is part of the Calumet Region Environmental Infrastructure 219 project and has been allocated $2,950,000 of federal funding.
