Officials to mark near-end of Village of Richton Park storm sewer improvement project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-2), and Village of Richton Park officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the near-completion of a storm sewer improvement project in Richton Park, Illinois:

WHERE:         22356 Governors Highway, Richton Park, IL 

TIME:             9 a.m

The project included construction of an approximate 1.7-acre detention basin along the East Branch of Butterfield Creek in the Village of Richton Park. In addition, an outlet pipe was constructed that extended about 600 linear feet from the detention basin to the East Branch of Butterfield Creek.

This project is one part of the Cook County Environmental Infrastructure 219 project and has been allocated $800,000 of federal funding. Richton Park, local sponsor, provided the 25 percent cash match of about $258,000. In September 2021, a contract was awarded to the Foundation Mechanics LLC. of Chicago, Illinois, for $669,400. Field construction started in August 2021 and will end in November 2021.
