Officials to mark beginning of The City of Crown Point Sanitary and Sewer Infrastructure Improvement Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan (IN-1), and Crown Point Mayor Peter Land will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of a sewer infrastructure improvement project:

WHEN:       Friday, July 22, 2022

WHERE:     Corner of W. Greenwood Ave and Lake St, Crown Point, IN

TIME:          12:00 p.m.

The project will provide improvements to the storm and sanitary infrastructure in the area of
Combined Sewer (CSO) 005 in Crown Point, including improvements to an existing detention pond,
storm sewer installation, and sewer rehabilitation. The project will extend from S. Court Street to
Lake Street near the Lake County Fairgrounds, with sewer rehabilitation taking place near Taft
Middle School.


This project is part of the Calumet Region Environmental Infrastructure Section 219 program and
has been allocated $1,650,000 of federal funding. Projects under this authority are cost shared at 75%
federal and 25% nonfederal sponsor. The nonfederal sponsor, the City of Crown Point, provided a
25% cash match of $550,000.
