    USACE Chicago District hosts Dam Safety risk communication training workshop

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chicago District recently held a Dam Safety risk communication training workshop for its Chicago, Seattle, and Galveston districts. Over 30 USACE personnel participated in five days of lecture discussions and facilitated sessions particular to each district’s area of responsibility.

    Last week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chicago District, with the help of its sister districts in Detroit and Buffalo, hosted a Great Lakes and Ohio River Division Great Lakes Inspection Tour (GLINT) to engage local, state and federal senior leaders and develop strategic partnerships with a focus on improving Great Lakes coastal resiliency.

    My Hurricane Laura Deployment Experience

    Working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given me a lot of opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself. Most recently, I was deployed down to Lafayette, Louisiana, along with several other USACE teammates, and we were assigned to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s temporary housing mission.

    USACE Chicago District started, completed 20 restoration projects to date with Great Lakes Restoration Initiative

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is one of 16 federal agencies participating in the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) to protect and restore the Great Lakes. Started in 2010, it has already made major strides in cleaning up EPA-designated areas of concern, stopping the spread of invasive species, and restoring fish and wildlife habitat throughout the Great Lakes watershed.
