  • Environmental Assessment for sewer improvement project, Valparaiso, Porter County, Ind.

    Environmental Assessment released July 15, 2014, for 30-day public review, for project alternatives and a recommended plan for sewer improvements in Porter County. The project would improve the efficiency and capability of the existing deteriorated storm sewer system to the residents of Valparaiso. Improvements would alleviate commonly-occurring leakage and cases of sewer backup affecting residential areas and reduce potential groundwater pollution. The proposed project would reline up to 19,361 linear feet of existing deteriorated sanitary sewer lines; and up to 70 manholes within the relined-sanitary sewers will be inspected and relined, as needed. Work would begin in 2014 with completion anticipated within approximately 12 months.

  • Environmental Assessment for sewer improvement project, Hermit Lake, Lake County, Ind.

    Environmental Assessment released June 6, 2014, for 30-day public review, for project alternatives and a recommended plan for sewer improvements in Lake County, Ind. The project would improve the efficiency and capability of the existing undersized storm sewer system to the residents of the Hermit Lake neighborhood, located in unincorporated Lake County, to the southwest of Crown Point. Improvements would alleviate flooding currently caused by typical rainfall events, and eliminate potential sanitary sewer discharges into Foss Ditch, Lake Dalecarlia and the Kankakee River.

  • Environmental Assessment for sewer improvement project, Lake Station, Ind.

    Environmental Assessment released May 21, 2014, for 30-day public review, for project alternatives and a recommended plan for sewer improvements in Lake Station, Ind. The proposed project would remove and replace a deteriorated 2,900-foot-long section of 18-inch sanitary sewer force main along Elkhart Avenue. Sanitary sewer system construction improvements would alleviate the commonly-occurring cases of sewer leakage, backup and flooding affecting the area.
