Veteran's Park Lagoon

Sec 506, Water Resources Development Act of 2000, as amended; Great Lakes Fishery and Ecosystem Restoration (GLFER) Program

The Study aims to determine the most cost effective and environmentally beneficial plan to restore Veteran’s Park Lagoon, reestablish hydrogeomorphology and growing mediums to support natural communities, provide spawning and rearing habitat for those fish species that require vegetation, and potentially reestablish connectivity with Lake Michigan.

The proposed project could offset degradation and habitat loss by providing a sustainable environmental corridor and connect isolated environmental features; and restore the river to a more natural condition, improving water quality and storage availability.
