The project consists of a breakwater (859 feet of concrete capped timber crib structure); a shore connection (1,035 feet of concrete capped timber pile structures); a revetment wall (632 feet of sheetpile); a north pier (444 feet of anchored steel sheeting and 998 feet of concrete capped timber crib structure); a south pier (3,511 feet of concrete capped timber pile and crib structures), an approach channel 390 feet wide at –22.0 ft. Low Water Datum (LWD), a channel between the piers at –18.0 ft. LWD; an inner basin with at –18.0 ft. LWD, and an anchorage area within the inner basin at –8.0 ft. LWD.
The construction contract for the south pier reconstruction was awarded in September 2018 and was completed
on Aug in August of 2019. A dredging contract was awarded on Sept 2019 in September of 2019 to Great Lakes Dock and Materials LLC, and dredging is scheduled to start in July 2020.
